UN PEACEKEEPING FORCE
COMMANDER OF MALI MEET WITH BANGLADESH ARMY CHIEF
The duo
discussed the activities, training and various professional issues of the
Bangladesh Army personnel deployed at the UN peacekeeping mission in Mali Force
Commander of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali
(MINUSMA) Major General Jean-Paul Deconinck paid a courtesy call on the
Bangladesh Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq at the latter’s
office on Sunday.
The duo discussed
the activities, training and various professional issues of the Bangladesh Army
personnel deployed at the UN peacekeeping mission in Mali, according to a press
release issued by Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) on Monday.
Maj General Deconinck
headed a two-member delegation which arrived in Bangladesh on September 30.
They boarded the same flight that was carrying the bodies of the three deceased
Bangladesh peacekeepers who were killed in an improvised explosive devices
(IED) explosion following a clash with a group of criminals in Mali on
September 24th 2017.
The Namaz-e-Janaza
of the deceased peacekeepers was held at the Chopper’s Den in Dhaka Cantonment
on Sunday where Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Nizam-ud-Din Ahmed and Chief
of the Air Staff Air Chief Marsha Abu Esrar were present among others.
